Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. It is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton the young immigrant Founding Father who forever changed America with his revolutionary ideas and actions. During his short life, he served as George Washington's chief aide, was the first Treasury Secretary, but despised by his fellow Founding Fathers and shot to death by Aaron Burr in a legendary duel. HAMILTON’S score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.
HAMILTON’S creative team previously collaborated on the 2008 Tony Award-winning Best Musical In the Heights. The show is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, The Public Theater and Cameron Mackintosh.
