The Unicorn is the UK’s flagship theatre for young people. It opened in 2005 and is a purpose-built state-of-the-art building, located just behind City Hall on the South Bank of the Thames. It is close to Tower Bridge and just a short walk from London Bridge station.
The Unicorn Theatre for children put on their own productions and also host visits by theatre companies for young people. Since opening they have presented international productions from Sweden, Denmark, Italy, The Netherlands, South Africa and Japan.
The Unicorn children's theatre stage over 620 performances a year and also offer a wide range of special events, workshops and theatre activities. There are two theatre spaces that offer a great variety of productions aimed at children between 4 and 12 years old. They operate an extensive education programme with visiting schools and local young people.
As soon as you enter the theatre you are greeted by a huge, glittering statue of a unicorn. There is a new café: Delimarché is open Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:30 for coffee and food ranging from breakfast pastries to lunch-time salads, sandwiches and soup. The café has a good selection of healthy snacks and treats for both children and adults. At weekends the café opens 90 minutes before performances and closes at 16:00. If there is an evening performance the café remains open.

Tooley Street is a red route and there is no parking available at the theatre. The nearest car park is the NCP at the junction of Snowsfields and Kipling Street (approximately 600 metres). |

There is wheelchair access throughout the Unicorn Theatre, and the building has a wheelchair-accessible lift. There are spaces for five wheelchair users in the Weston Theatre. There are 2 wheelchair spaces in the Clore Theatre, but this varies from production to production |
